| 14033. GLOBALIZATION AND THE PROBLEM OF LABOR MARKET ABUSE. This report considers the influence of globalization on abuses in labor markets (focusing in particular on the problem of the exploitation of workers) from the perspective of sociological theory. Following an introduction to the problem, the economic, cultural and political aspects of the problem are considered from the perspective of Chase-Dunn’s (1998) world systems theory, Robertson’s (1992) globalization theory, and Sassen’s (1998) theories (political, economic, feminist) on globalization and its problems. The concluding sections present a re-framing of the problem and a proposed research design to test the arguments made within that re-framing. 15 pages, 34 footnotes, 9 bibliographic references. |
