The historical circumstances of the Baroque and Classical periods are discussed, and it is noted that the Baroque style basically represented "passion" while the Classical style represented "order" (but these categories were not firmly fixed). The paper discussed such things as the use of scales, orchestration, musical forms and operatic styles.
