This paper provides an analysis and a solution to a case study which concerns group dynamics, interpersonal relations and conflict within teams, team and organizational leadership, and organizational communication at a scientific lab. Dr. Jerrold hires a brilliant scientist, Fester, and places him in Bob Knowlton’s work group. The case analysis discusses Knowlton’s attributions concerning Fester, Dr. Jerrold and the group as a whole and identifies the central norms of the research group. Jerrold’s leadership style is described and considered in the context of Bob’s need for guidance. The analysis also considers Knowlton’s leadership style and its strengths and weaknesses.
