Argues that “Le Nozze di Figaro” (“The Marriage of Figaro”) is a great artistic work, which brilliantly combines elements of humor and passion. The opera relates to important universal themes such as the power of love and the human rights of members of the lower class. Above all, the opera stands out as a masterpiece because of Mozart’s consummate skill as a composer. Throughout the work, excellent examples can be found of Mozart’s ability to use music effectively for the purpose of creating dramatic tension, characterization and mood.
