Argues that Lorde’s treatment of the theme of difference shows that being “different” is a condition that is shared by all human beings. In her poems, prose writings, and speeches, Lorde expressed the view that we are all unique in our individuality. Lorde’s message is that identities of difference should be accepted and celebrated, and that they should not be regarded as problematic or as a cause for separatism.
