17953. STARBUCKS IN 1997 CASE STUDY. This paper provides an analysis and case solution to a case study on specialty coffee leader Starbucks in 1997. The case is drawn from Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskissons Strategic Management: Competitiveness and Globalization. Now that Starbucks has firmly established its market leadership position, CEO Howard Schultz and the rest of the management team must now decide how to best exploit the many opportunities for global expansion while maintaining brand image and remaining true to organizational values.
